Drove the rest of the way to McCarthy. Stopped at a spot where the Pipeline comes close to the road. Had beers in Chitina. Ate lunch and saw the fishwheels along the XXX River.

On the McCarthy Road, stopped at the bridge over the XXX River. Dropped stones from the walkway under the bridge.

Finished the drive to McCarthy, checked in at Brad's place. Walked into town, checked in at Wrangell Mountain Air, and got beer at the saloon.

Brought groceries for backcoutnry meals at Fred Meyers. Began drive to McCarthy from Eagle River. Stopped for a short hike along the road. Sent off postcards in Glennallen. Stopped at the Wrangell-St. Elias visitor center. Stayed in a cabin at a campground in Copper Center. Had beers at the Copper Center Princess Lodge, with good view Mt. Drum.

Touched down in Anchorage. Drove to the REI store. Turns out it had just closed, but Dad got in to get the food he'd had shipped ahead of us. Back to the airport to pick up Uncle Don, then on to Eagle River and our motel. Dinner: Pizza Man in Eagle River. Beer: Mirror Pond Pale Ale.
